Trail Overview
The Hoist Lake trail is a wide, well-maintained gravel route that branches off from Trail 7 near the saloon, a convenient stop for supplies like ice before heading in. At the beginning of the trail, there is a large clearing that could serve as a parking area or a potential site for dispersed camping. For much of its length, the Tomahawk ATV Trail runs parallel to this route, making it a corridor shared by a variety of users. The surface remains smooth and wide until it reaches Little Manitou Road. Beyond that point, the trail narrows into a forested two-track, passing by a small lake and a couple of side trails better suited for ATVs and side-by-sides. The trail ends at a compact clearing large enough for a vehicle to turn around, which could also serve as a dispersed camping spot. There are no developed campsites along the trail, and it lacks basic services such as water, restrooms, or trash disposal. Cell service is likely to be limited or nonexistent in the area.

Difficulty
The trail is maintained but can develop light overgrowth between trims, especially in the summer months. Commonly used by local OHV traffic, the path remains visible and passable, though branches and low brush may occasionally encroach.
