Trail Overview
This trail is a wide gravel route that is generally well-maintained, though sections are bumpy and show signs of corrugation. The route is mostly straight but includes a few sharp curves. It passes through dense forest, and while there are several side trails branching off, most appear to lead to private property. One spur trail on a curve is open to the public, though it is narrow and overgrown, making it more suitable for ATVs or side-by-sides. The main trail intersects with Little Creek Road and continues to the right. Along the way, travelers will come across a large building known as Petrell Hall, a historic Finnish community hall situated near a smaller trail named Petrell Trail. The route does not offer any formal campsites and is without basic amenities such as trash bins, potable water, or restroom facilities. Cell service may be limited or unreliable in this area.

History
Petrell Hall, also known as the Petrell Finnish Community Hall, is a historic log building located in Fairbanks Township, about 45 miles northeast of Duluth, Minnesota. Built beginning in 1912 by Finnish immigrants through the Fairbanks Finnish Work-People's Society, the land was donated by Edwin and Olga Petrell for community use. Constructed with hand-hewn log walls, sawn roof and trim boards, and pressed-tin walls inside, the hall also features original wainscoting, a stage, and a painted stage drop created in 1927 by Finnish immigrant Robert Anderson. From its earliest years, Petrell Hall was a gathering place for weddings, funerals, plays, dances, and meetings, and it later served as the Fairbanks Town Hall and a polling place. It is one of only three Finnish community halls still active in Minnesota, and the only one built of logs by a workers' society in its region. Despite its age, many original elements remain intact, and the building continues to be preserved and celebrated by the community for its cultural and historic significance.
