Trail Overview

This trail is surfaced with well-maintained reddish-brown gravel, and in August 2025, there was active roadwork along certain sections, so drivers should be prepared for possible delays or construction equipment. The route winds through forested terrain and leads to a river access point, where there is a small parking area just before a bridge that crosses a scenic stretch of river. Roughly 100 feet beyond the bridge, a non-motorized trail branches off, providing additional recreational access. The main trail continues smoothly through the woods until it reaches an intersection, after which it is barricaded and closed to through traffic. A spur to the right leads to a carry-in water access site with parking. One notable stop along the route is the Wild Country Maple Syrup operation, which features a small self-serve store using an honor system. The location is known for its maple syrup caramels and timber buildings, and the staff are known to be welcoming. This makes for a worthwhile stop if you're in the area. A snowmobile trail beside a private road off the main route connects to the nearby town of Lutsen. While the trail is scenic and offers a few points of interest, it does not include any formal or dispersed campsites and has no amenities such as water, toilets, or trash disposal. Cell service may be intermittent or unavailable in places.
