Trail Overview
This trail, also known as Clearwater Road, is accessed from the paved Gunflint Trail and begins as a wide, well-maintained gravel route. While the surface is generally good, there are sections with corrugations and potholes that may require slower speeds. The trail initially winds through the forest and passes several private residences before reaching the Flour Lake Campground. This campground offers several forested campsites equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, toilets, trash disposal, drinking water, and access to the lake. Notably, this site had available spots even when the campsites at Lands End were fully occupied. Beyond the campground, the trail continues to wind through the forest, closely following the shoreline, and leads to a lodge and canoe outfitter. Toward the end of the trail, the route becomes steeper, with noticeable ascents and descents, and passes more private residences. The trail terminates at a public water access point situated between two homes, where a sign clearly states "absolutely no camping." However, there is a small parking area and two portable toilets available.
