Trail Overview

We started at the trailhead entrance at Pins. You can expect rock, dirt, water, and mud holes. Once you get to Tree Hugger you will start with a water hole and a hill climb. Once on Tree Hugger, the trail will get a little tight and that's why the name. You will run into water holes, and it can even be impassable in the spring. The island has had a lot of water over the last couple of years but is usually much drier in the summer. Once you get through the water you will run into a rock climb so have fun and be cautious.

Difficulty

I rated this trail a 4 since the water can be very deep at times. Normally this could be considered a 3 but with the depth of the water please be cautious.

Rocky and some mud holes. I have a stock 2024 Jeep JLU Willys and it handled it with no problem. It’s a fun trail to take the family on. We took this trail leading to the walker trail which is a little rougher but you can read my report I posted on Walker trail report. I am an inexperienced off roader and had no problem navigating this trail.

This trail was a bit more extreme than suggested. The trailhead is very rocky. There are some water holes that didn’t feel passable with a stock jeep. Had to turn around twice.
