Trail Overview
National Forest Service Trail 7988 is a very unique and easy off-road trail for beginners. Located off North Pine Avenue or North Poplar Avenue, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through an absolutely beautiful section of the Manistee National Forest with great fall foliage. The tall Michigan red pine trees are a welcome sight to see. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is a cool trail!
