Trail Overview

Green Trail is a very interesting scenic bidirectional Natural Beauty Road within the Waterloo State Rec Area. Located between Jackson and Ann Arbor near Highway 94, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the west end at the intersection of Maute Trail, you'll start out on a dirt/gravel road in some lush trees that will end up opening up to a gravel mining area. Now it's not known whether this is an active mining area or not, but please respect the area and keep away from the gated areas. Just north of this trail, there is a side dirt road that can lead you to Clear Lake if you so choose. You'll weave through the trees alongside the lush vegetation edging the trail. Be sure to take it all in. The Waterloo Rec Area equestrian trail, as well as the Codyville Pines hiking trail and Ridge hiking trail, are along this route as well. Please TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. The eastern end of the trail finishes at Loveland Trail, so if you haven't checked that out, be sure to do so! Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
