Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 5454 begins just off FS 9990. The entrance is densely wooded, with low-hanging branches creating a tunnel-like canopy that immediately sets the tone for the trail. Early on, there's a short rocky section. It's not particularly technical, but a bit unexpected given the terrain in the surrounding area. The trail narrows considerably in several spots, so drivers should be prepared for some inevitable scratches to their vehicle's paint. In places, the tree cover is thick enough to dim the light even during the day. This route provides great views inside the forest and is a fun route to drive. There is one short section of trail that opens up into a beautiful clearing with a couple of trees scattered throughout.
