Trail Overview

This trail offers a fun mix of terrain and scenery without presenting any major obstacles. It begins under a canopy of thick trees, where the narrow path and encroaching branches may cause light pinstriping on wider vehicles. As you progress, the trail opens into a wide prairie with tall, flowing grass that gives a peaceful change of pace and a great view of the surrounding landscape. The grasses can be tall enough to hide smaller ruts, so a mindful eye is helpful. Near the end, the route transitions into a gentle hill climb that leads back into the trees, adding a small bit of elevation to finish the run.

Difficulty

This trail is generally easy, but a few features add a mild challenge. The tight, wooded entrance may cause light pinstriping, and the tall prairie grass can conceal minor ruts or uneven spots. The final hill climb introduces slight elevation and loose dirt, though it remains manageable for most vehicles with basic off-road capability. Overall, drivers should use caution in narrow or overgrown sections, but no technical obstacles are present.

History

This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.
