Trail Overview

This trail winds steadily through dense woodland, offering a peaceful and scenic drive surrounded by trees on both sides. The path is narrow in areas, with sections of overgrowth where branches and brush reach into the trail, so light pinstriping is possible. The surface is mostly compact dirt with no major obstacles or technical challenges. Some gentle ruts and slight off-camber stretches can be found along the way, but nothing that requires advanced vehicle setup. Visibility around curves is limited due to heavy foliage, so slower speeds are recommended.

Difficulty

This trail is very mild with no major obstacles, making it suitable for stock or lightly modified vehicles. While there are some light ruts, overgrowth, and narrow wooded sections that may cause minor pinstriping, overall, it remains easy and manageable. Slow speeds and basic awareness are all that's needed to navigate safely.

History

This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.

Access Description

From Highway K-15 in Mulvane, head toward North 2nd Avenue and turn there, following it for a short distance before turning onto East English Street. Continue until you reach North 1st Avenue and turn left, staying on this road as it leaves the neighborhood and shifts from pavement to gravel. Follow North 1st Avenue straight out of town, crossing the active railroad tracks. Once over the tracks, remain on the gravel lane and continue forward until you reach the main park gate, formerly known as Sandy Bottoms.
