Trail Overview

This trail is heavily overgrown and feels more like a hidden path than a traveled route. Tall grass covers most of the track, and low-hanging branches close in from both sides, creating a tunnel effect that can be tough on taller vehicles. The brush is thick, with limbs and twigs constantly brushing against your rig, so expect plenty of pinstripes if you continue through. Despite the vegetation, the trail itself is relatively flat with no major obstacles, ruts, or climbs to worry about. It's more of a clearance and visibility challenge than a technical one, best suited for smaller rigs or drivers who don't mind some scratches.

Difficulty

This trail is easy in terms of terrain. Drivers won't face technical obstacles, steep climbs, or deep ruts, but tall grass and low-hanging branches can limit visibility and cause scratches along the sides of taller vehicles. The narrow path requires careful navigation to avoid brush and limbs, making it more about patience and vehicle clearance than skill. Suitable for stock 4x4s, but those concerned about body damage or paint should proceed cautiously.

History

This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.

Access Description

From Highway K-15 in Mulvane, head toward North 2nd Avenue and turn there, following it for a short distance before turning onto East English Street. Continue until you reach North 1st Avenue and turn left, staying on this road as it leaves the neighborhood and shifts from pavement to gravel. Follow North 1st Avenue straight out of town, crossing the active railroad tracks. Once over the tracks, remain on the gravel lane and continue forward until you reach the main park gate, formerly known as Sandy Bottoms.
