Trail Overview

One Horse Gap Lake Trail is a gravel road within Shawnee National Forest that leads to a quiet lakeside access point with several primitive camping opportunities along the way. The route is easy to follow and suitable for most 2WD vehicles, though sections of tree overhang may limit clearance for taller setups. Along the trail, there are approximately four primitive campsites with signs of previous use, including established fire rings. These are not developed sites and are best suited for tent campers, small campers, or overlanding setups. The road and sites are not suitable for large rigs due to limited space and tight clearances. The trail ends at a small gravel boat ramp with an adjacent gravel parking area, best suited for small boats, kayaks, and canoes. The area is remote with low traffic, making it a good option for a quiet camping or fishing experience. Visitors should plan for primitive conditions, follow pack-in/pack-out practices, and check regulations through the Shawnee National Forest for current rules regarding camping and recreation.
