Trail Overview
South Grove Creek is a 2-mile-long dirt bike single track in the Targhee National Forest, climbing nearly 1,000 feet from east to west between the Grove Creek Motorized Trailhead and the Big Hole Crest Trail. The trail begins by paralleling a small creek, which sometimes spills onto the trail itself, creating a few wet or muddy patches. It's mostly narrow, flowy single track with occasional loose rock and some sharper corners as it winds around the hillsides. There are stretches of mild side-hilling, but the exposure is low, and the trail remains wide enough to still be manageable for newer riders. Riders travel through a lush pine forest with good visibility and a mix of sun and shade. While the elevation gain adds some effort, the overall trail remains manageable, making it a great introduction to alpine single track for newer riders. It offers a scenic and steady climb with a nice mix of flowing forest trail and mild challenge.
