Trail Overview
Osberg Ridgeline Trail (7147) is a scenic single track in the Smoky Mountains, located about 20 minutes west of Ketchum, Idaho. Stretching 10.9 miles, it climbs roughly 1,000 feet as it runs west from the northern end of Rooks Creek to the Baker Lake Trailhead off Forest Service Road 70162. True to its name, the trail follows a ridgeline almost the entire way, winding through an old burn area with narrow tread and steady views in all directions. The surface is a mix of loose and packed dirt that can turn very dusty even with light traffic. Obstacles are limited, with only one wider switchback and occasional short sections of embedded baseball-sized rock, leaving most of the ride smooth and flowing. The eastern half winds between charred trees with frequent opportunities to stop and take in the scenery, while the western end opens into grassy ridges with fewer trees. With its steady elevation, incredible vistas, and fun flow, this is one of the most rewarding trails in the system.
