Trail Overview
Mahogany is a fun and flowy trail for almost 5 miles in the Big Hole Mountains, which is pretty easy, with a few exposed sections and root obstacles that make it more of a moderate trail. It has several mild switchbacks near the west end that are pretty wide, gradual, and smooth. Expect moderate exposure throughout the route; there is often a pretty steep drop off to the side as you ride the narrow trail. The vegetation lining the trail is also pretty tall and overgrown, making the trail feel even more narrow and making it hard to see around blind corners in those spots. There are a few moderate root obstacles, such as thick root bands across wide sections of the trail, so you can pick from multiple lines to get over them. It's easy to plop off the roots on the way down, but harder on the way up, as they are a foot tall and dug out. There is a big stream crossing at the east end of the trail that is smooth, but pretty deep. Overall, it's a really scenic and fun trail that has some good challenges for less experienced riders.

Difficulty
Although most of this trail is flowy and easy, it's a moderate difficulty due to a couple of root obstacles and moderate exposure during narrow sections of side-hilling. It's ideal for newer riders looking for a challenge or more experienced riders looking for an easy and smooth route.
