Trail Overview

Howard's Trail is a top-tier single track in the Greenhorn Trail System near Ketchum Idaho that has incredible mountain views. Most of the route is a really narrow trail that side-hills across an exposed grassy hillside with moderate exposure. In the middle of the summer, these hillsides are full of beautiful wildflowers. There aren't many rocks throughout this trail, so it's less difficult, but since it's extremely narrow with exposure that adds a challenge. It has a couple of tight switchbacks as it drops into a gulch with a stream. There are three creek crossings that are easy, but one has the trail half washed out so you have to exit the stream on the narrow high side of the trail. It's a very beautiful gulch as it comes to an intersection with North Fork Deer Creek. This is a really epic trail with endless views.
