Trail Overview

Horse Flat (Forest Service Trail 3312) is part of the single-track system in the Bear River Range. It's 5.6 miles long and gains 1,300 feet in total. The track starts in a parking lot at the end of Forest Service Road 30457 and heads southeast to 30410. The beginning trail is wide and shared by hikers to access Bloomington Lake. The single track route splits to the left and immediately crosses a stream/marsh area. There's a wooden bridge over the deepest water, and logs laid down in mud to help you get through the rest. Even with the logs and bridge, this section can be tricky. There are wide switchbacks after this to get you up over the next ridge, where you run through an open field and then back into the woods. There aren't as many rocks on this trail, but it does have some plant overgrowth.

Moderately difficult trail that's narrow and overgrown in some sections. There are a few wide switchbacks to navigate and the water crossing at one end raises the trail rating.
