Trail Overview
This dirt trail is right off highway 21. There are dispersed camping spots immediately at the beginning in the open valley. These have fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The trail continues into the trees and runs along a creek with many more dispersed campsites tucked just off the trail. Some even have access to the creek. The trail gets narrower with bumpy rocks in a few places. Vehicles would have to back up to pass one another. The trail ends at a turn-around loop and a parking area for the Elk Meadow Trailhead. This multi-use trail is for hiking, horses, bicycles, and motorcycles. Not a very large parking area for trailers, so it would be better to park any trailers at the beginning of the trailhead in one of the larger dispersed sites and ride in. No winter maintenance or cell service out here.
Difficulty
Narrow with bumpy rocks, oncoming may have to back up to get to the last pullout to allow you to pass.
