Trail Overview
Located within the lush Lihu'e-Koloa Forest Reserve, this iconic out-and-back trail leads adventurers to the historic site where the original Jurassic Park gate once stood. While the gate itself is gone, the two original stone pillars remain as a legendary photo op for fans. The route consists of a mostly single-track dirt road with areas to pass oncoming travelers. Be prepared for overgrown vegetation, flying insects, and potential mud puddles along the trail; the terrain can become quite slick and messy during wet weather. A highlight of the trek is a low-water stream crossing, which serves as a perfect spot to cool off during the warmer months. Use caution throughout the drive, as this is a popular area where you may encounter hikers on the path.
