Trail Overview
Clay Hill Road is a shortcut between Church Road and a private residential area along Howard Road. Beginning on the western trailhead, the mostly straight trail travels through stands of very tall mature southern pine trees that tower over the trail and give the feel of driving through a deep ravine. Gopher turtles, a protected species, can be spotted sunning outside their burrows along the trail. The eastern end of the trail brings a few more twists and turns before exiting onto Howard Road. The trail bed is primarily packed dirt with a grassy center along the eastern section. Clay Hill Road is entirely within the Sansavilla WMA, and a valid Georgia Hunting or Fishing license is required to access the trail.
