Blount's Crossing

Trail Overview

Blount's Crossing trail continues south from the west end of Main Road and is one of the four entry points into Paulks Pasture at its southern end, where it intersects with Highway 32. From Highway 32, the trail crosses a set of railroad tracks and a shallow creek, Little Buffalo Creek. The trail is primarily packed sand reinforced with crushed gravel, giving it a sturdy base, and is a bit more than one vehicle wide, so passing is easy. Stands of oaks and cultivated Loblolly Pine line the trail, giving it the feel of driving through a narrow canyon. A variety of wildlife lives along Blount's Crossing trail, including deer, wild hog, and turkeys. The area is an active hunting and birding site and is one of the best-known coastal sites for birding. Please note signage as you enter the area, requiring a valid hunt/fish license or Lands Pass to enter.
