Trail Overview
The Devil's Backbone trail is the most difficult trail in the Beasley Knob OHV area. It is extremely steep and has multiple extremely challenging rock gardens, hill climbs, and ledges to navigate with steep drops to one side for roughly one-third of the trail while you wind your way up the mountain. It is recommended to only attempt this trail in a group and to go uphill from the access road instead of attempting downhill. All of the trails inside Beasley Knob OHV are closed seasonally from December 31st to late March or early April weather permitting, and are closed during periods of heavy rain. Call the Blue Ridge Ranger District at 706-745-6928 to check the status of the trail. A $5 day use fee is required to ride at Beasley Knob OHV and can be purchased online via QR code at the parking areas.
