Trail Overview
The south end of Wide Open starts on Frey Gulch Road and it enters the aspen trees and starts climbing up the hillside. It climbs up a series of 10 gradual switchbacks that casually curve through the pine trees and cross the Tenderfoot Mountain Trail. It does one more zig-zag on the north side of Tenderfoot Mountain Trail until it comes back to another intersection with Monkey Butt Trail. Overall this one is very easy as it is decently wide, smooth with hardly any rocks, and very gradual. It goes through a section of pine trees that has been logged and the ground is completely covered in tall skinny pine tree logs. This trail is open from 7/1 to 10/9 for motorized use.
