Trail Overview
Ponds Express is a 50" trail in the adobe badlands of Peach Valley recreation area near Montrose, Colorado. The trail has a smooth clay surface, and follows several ridge lines on the adobe hills. It might be a bit narrow in certain spots on the ridge line for an ATV, but is very easy for a dirt bike, and still possible for the ATV rider looking for a challenge. The south trailhead starts with a big hill climb up, and then continues through a series of ups and downs in the adobe hills and around the base of the hills, and along the top of a shallow wash. There are trail signs at some of the intersections, but not all. It takes you back to Elephant Skin Road on the north end. This recreation area is part of the larger Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. This is a popular riding area in spring and fall near Montrose, Colorado, and a lot of the trails have blind corners. This type of soil can get really slick when wet, so it's best to visit in spring and fall to avoid winter snow and summer heat. Expect to see other riders, especially on weekends.

Difficulty
Easy trail for dirt bikes, but harder for ATVs because of steep climbs and descents. The trail itself is smooth with no rocks or obstacles.
