Trail Overview
Doctor Park Trail is one of the main trails to ride when visiting Taylor Park, Colorado. It's a very long trail with a little of everything. Over the course of 17 miles, it has 3,600 feet elevation gain and 2,500 elevation loss, thus having lots of climbs and descents all throughout the trail. The north end starts out with a bridge over a creek crossing as the trail leaves Taylor Park. It winds up through the pine forest with some rocky switchbacks. It continues to climb all the way up to 11,500 feet, with lots of brake bumps, roots, and puddles. It has rock and root sections, with some side hills through open meadows with killer views. There are a couple of switchbacks after the shelfy sections with embedded rock, but it's fast enough to flow in second gear comfortably. Overall this trail is much less rocky than some of the other really rocky trails that Taylor Park is known for (i.e. Star Trail and Timberline Trail). There are a couple of downed logs that are pretty easy to cross over. The trail is really well maintained and signed all throughout, so it's easy to follow the trail over the 17 miles. There are several bail-out options from the trail that can't be missed, if you don't want to ride all 17 miles.
