La Garita Creek Cutoff ATV

Trail Overview

From the north end, this trail departs from the La Garita Stock Driveway trail, and heads south through a forest of pines and beetle kill, with loose and embedded rocks in the trail as it curves tightly through the trees. It also has smooth sections of trail as it goes through big meadows. As it descends, it has a loose marbly surface with flat embedded layers of rock, and one more moderate rock ledge less than a foot tall. It has a shallow creek crossing near some private cabins. After the creek crossing, it climbs back up through the forest as it goes south, switchbacking up, and then descending down to the trailhead on Shorty Spring Road.
