Trail Overview

The high-elevation, upper portion of Sky Ranch Road serves as a critical trunk route to multiple backcountry destinations. It is the eastern portion of the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway. This two-lane road is characterized by embedded chunky rock sections that require caution and reduced speed. The route accesses the iconic Fresno Dome and is a popular entry point for major hiking trailheads and numerous scenic dispersed campsites. This road is split into two submissions (Upper and Lower) as it changes character and becomes more difficult as it climbs into the mountains.
