Summit Cutoff - 5S009X

Trail Overview

This is an easy, two-lane Forest Service road that efficiently climbs out of the Fish Camp area and connects to the high-country Chowchilla Mountain Road network. The surface is a mixed bag of graded dirt, loose gravel, and rough sections of broken, old pavement (visible in photos), requiring careful navigation. The road passes through a dense, healthy forest canopy.

The road is accessible to most passenger vehicles (when dry), but the frequent change in surface (graded dirt to broken pavement) requires high clearance for comfort and to avoid damaging tires. It is a scenic and straightforward climb.
