Trail Overview
Rancheria Road North (FS 25S15) is one of the primary north-to-south corridors through this section of Sequoia National Forest, serving as the gateway to numerous spur trails in the network. The hard-packed dirt and gravel surface runs from Alta Sierra Ski Resort down to the entrance of Evans Flat Campground, winding through forest and along shelf road sections with views of the valleys below, including Lake Isabella. Evidence of the 2021 French Fire is visible along the route. Fire permits are required when fires are allowed, and current fire restrictions should be checked before heading out. Cross traffic from dirt bikes and mountain bikes is common, and drivers should stay alert, particularly on blind shelf road corners.

Difficulty
The surface is fairly smooth throughout, with ruts under 6 inches appearing in sections. The primary variables are muddy conditions after rain or snow melt and the presence of cross traffic from non-motorized and motorized users sharing the corridor. Street-legal vehicles only are permitted.
