Mount Mesa (FS 26S40A) departs from California Route 198 and rolls through a large open meadow running parallel to Kissack Bay on Lake Isabella before looping around the bay. The meadow and bay setting delivers strong water views with Sequoia National Forest mountains framing the scene in the background. The water level changes on the lake.

Difficulty

The trail is suitable for stock vehicles with reasonable ground clearance. At least one water crossing is present on the route, and sections of the trail can flood when lake levels are elevated, which represents the primary challenge on this otherwise accessible route.
