Trail Overview
This trail starts off at Superstition Mountain South and begins at mile 9.5 of the El Centro BLM Backcountry Trail. The surface is fine sand and is two vehicles wide, lined with creosote bushes throughout. This trail connects the north side of Superstition Mountain to the south side without having to go up on the mountain, making it an important and convenient connector route. You'll encounter whoops, off-camber sections, and drops in and out of washes along the way. There is a very big hole in one of the washes, deeper than 3 feet, that is not marked, so be vigilant. There are a couple of bypasses already built around this hole, so watch for them as you approach the wash crossing.

Difficulty
This is an easy trail overall, with the fine sand requiring momentum management and airing down recommended. The whoops, off-camber sections, and wash drops add character but are generally manageable. The main hazard is the unmarked hole deeper than 3 feet in one of the washes, which could seriously damage a vehicle if hit at speed. Slow down at wash crossings and look for the bypass routes that have been established around this obstacle.
