The Hungry Valley Route connects the Powerline Road, Freeman Trail, and Homestead Trail to the 4x4 Playground. It's a combination of easy, intermediate, and difficult trails. The playground has multiple obstacles ranging from easy to extreme. The trails are open all year, weather permitting, but the best time to go is on weekdays.

Followed Powerline Road all the way to the locked gate near the 5. Good place for beginners to learn what their car or rig is capable of, but not much more of interest. 3-4 optional obstacles can offer some more challenge, but only one of the offshoots is actually really steep, I avoided that obstacle but I did the rest in my stock Subaru forester. Mostly dirt, a couple short rocky stretches, and some rutted out bits. Need some clearance, probably 6+ inches minimum, but 2wd should be fine. This trail is probably more fun on a bike. Passed a couple dirt bikers and a side by side.

Hungry Valley SVRA is open except for the east side (based on the map we were provided), likely due to past fires. Playground is also open and has plenty of things, like frametwister, stairs, big pool, rocks, giant pipes, etc. Great diversity of terrain (green, blue, black like ski resorts) including dirt rolling bumps, banked turns, sand, mud, narrow trails, wide straights. Had a great time, would recommend. PS there are also insane wall climbs which are nice to look at from far away, as a newbie

Homestead Trail gate closed on the south side.

Great views all around, didn’t know we needed to reserve a spot. Pretty cheap reservation. The playground was great just not as much mud as anticipated.
