Trail Overview
This is a point-to-point single-vehicle-width trail that can be combined with nearby trails to form a loop route across a scenic vista area. Occasional turnouts and wider stretches to allow vehicles to pass are present in the southern half of the trail, but the northern half is relatively narrow with dense vegetation on both sides of the trail. The trail surface is primarily packed dirt with occasional small loose rocks, shallow ruts, and short rock ledges. Near the halfway point, where the trail makes a hairpin turn, there is a large open area with great views of Apple, Lucerne, and Johnson Valleys that would be an ideal secluded spot for dispersed camping. Past this point, there are several steep, short sandy hill climbs followed by a stretch of whoops, and then tight turns through an area of large boulders. This section is also very narrow as it passes through dense scrub brush and will likely cause some pinstripping on wider vehicles. Note that the tight turns might also pose a problem for full-size vehicles to navigate. At the northern end of the trail, the west sections of FS 3N17D (North Peak) and 3N17 (White Mountain) can be used to loop back to the main route. Be sure to locate the carved stone face along the trail. Tread Lightly and Pack-It-Out.

Difficulty
The first southern section of this trail is primarily a packed dirt road with shallow ruts and embedded rocks. After the halfway point, it becomes more difficult with several steep sandy hill climbs, whoops, tight turns between large boulders, and overgrown vegetation. There are also a few small rocky ledges to navigate. Moderate to high clearance is recommended, and 4WD will likely be necessary to climb the steep sandy grades.
