Trail Overview
This sandy and pumice trail runs south of Deadman Dome, climbing 285 feet and dropping nearly 600 feet over just under 3 miles. It winds through a sparse pine forest surrounded by various domes, with numerous tree roots and ruts from heavy use. There are a few narrow sections where trees may rub against wider vehicles. Some areas feature fairly deep sand and pumice, making high clearance recommended, and 4x4 with good tires required for the steep climbs and deep tree ruts. Be cautious of drop-offs caused by other trails crossing this one. Near the dome, there is a short rocky section with additional tree ruts. The trail becomes very narrow near the top, including a shelf road with some cliffs and whoops. Airing down your tires is highly recommended. The challenge is worth it with beautiful views of the Eastern Sierra mountains at the trail's apex.

Difficulty
This trail is moderately challenging due to its varied terrain and narrow sections. The deep sand, tree roots, and ruts require careful navigation, especially on the steep climbs. High clearance vehicles with 4x4 and good tires are necessary to safely traverse the route. Some parts are very narrow, including shelf road sections near cliffs, making it unsuitable for wider vehicles. Drivers should be experienced with airing down tires to improve traction. Overall, this trail offers a rewarding off-road experience with some technical features, but is manageable for prepared and skilled drivers.
