Trail Overview
Forks FS 23S62 branches off Parker Forks and climbs aggressively through Sequoia National Forest pine trees before transitioning onto a shelf road with a deep embankment dropping hundreds of feet to the valley floor below. Evidence of the 2021 Windy Fire is visible throughout. Note that the final third of a mile has been cut off by the Forest Service during post-fire trail rebuilding efforts, shortening the effective length of the route. There is a decent turnaround at the end. You can hike the remaining part of the trail, but there are trees down.

Difficulty
The concentrated elevation gain of 400 plus feet in just 1.3 miles drives the primary challenge. Small ruts and frequent drainage humps appear throughout. The shelf road section with a deep drop-off to the valley floor requires steady attention despite the accessible rating. The single vehicle width leaves little room for error on the shelf road stretch. Due to fire damage, trees are unstable and can fall at any time.
