Trail Overview

This trail begins at Inyo Crater via the Dry Creek Spur and connects to Deadman Loop. The route is mostly flat, climbing about 150 feet before dropping 164 feet in just under 2 miles. The surface is hard-packed dirt and gravel, cutting through a tall pine forest with sections of burned timber where the brush has been recently thinned. Along the way, the trail passes through a couple of small meadows and carries the lingering scent of past fire. Expect deeper ruts around corners, scattered whoops, and some rougher patches that may challenge low-clearance vehicles. The northern section becomes easier after the first mile as the trail merges with the Mammoth to June Lake Loop. Wildlife such as deer and black bear are occasionally spotted here, adding to the backcountry feel.
