Trail Overview
This short but steep out-and-back trail climbs over 600 feet in less than a mile and a half, making it a quick route to big views. The road is a mix of sand and gravel with embedded rocks, lined with thick sagebrush as it follows a power line corridor. It is only one vehicle wide, so be prepared to pull over where space allows. Early on, you'll need to close the cattle gate after entering. As the trail climbs, you'll encounter a few short rock gardens with rocks up to basketball size, along with one section of larger boulders just under 12 inches tall. High clearance is strongly recommended. At mile 1, a short shelf road section offers sweeping views over Twin Lakes Road and the nearby Sierra peaks. From here, the surface becomes sandier and a bit steeper. The top rewards drivers with incredible views of the valley below, the first of the Twin Lakes, and the dramatic backdrop of the Eastern Sierra mountains, including "The Incredible Hulk" peak.
