Trail Overview
Launching from BLM 701 toward the high-rising Picacho Peak Wilderness mountains towering to the east, this hard-packed sand route wears a gravel overlay throughout. Vegetation stays sparse with just a few desert bushes and ocotillo breaking up the barren landscape. Chocolate Mountains loom in the distance to the north, creating layered mountain views. The trail runs fairly smooth and fairly flat overall, with a couple of easy drops into washes barely interrupting the flow. After 1.4 miles, it crosses Ogilby Road before pivoting south toward the Imperial Sand Dunes, ultimately terminating at BLM 668 after its directional changes.

Difficulty
The fairly smooth and fairly flat character makes this approachable for most vehicles. Hard-packed sand with gravel provides excellent traction. Those couple of easy wash drops don't challenge clearance or approach angles. The Ogilby Road crossing at 1.4 miles serves more as a landmark than an obstacle. Overall, this rates as straightforward travel suitable for accessing.
