Trail Overview

This heavily used sand and gravel trail is marked by an orange placard with a black arrow and leads into a scenic, winding route through a beautiful pine forest. Some stretches reveal the aftermath of previous burn areas, opening up panoramic views of the Eastern Sierra and the forested valley below. The trail is riddled with ruts, and in places, large humps form where it crosses other tracks--requiring careful navigation. After splitting from FS32E609-SNO, the path smooths out, but narrow corridors with low-hanging branches persist. Wider vehicles will likely collect pinstripes, and taller rigs should proceed with caution. Numerous spur trails branch off for further exploration. Views of Bald Mountain Lookout offer a rewarding backdrop throughout the drive.

Difficulty

The route is navigable for most stock high-clearance 4WD vehicles but comes with common off-road challenges. Ruts, soft sand, and tight turns framed by trees make this less ideal for wide or tall vehicles. Use caution at some intersections as trail humps from other trails can cause issues. Dust can also cause visibility issues.
