Trail Overview

This is a short and easy dirt bike trail that winds through a dry forest of pine trees, on a smooth dirt path covered in pine needles. There aren't many rocks, and it is consistently fast and flowy through the trees. The biggest concern on this trail is watching your head on a lot of thick spiky dead tree branches that hang low over the trail at head height or stick out at chest height. It has some tight curves through the trees, dips into little ravines, and good visibility. It stays pretty gradual until the north end where it gets a little bit steeper, before ending on FS 3N59Y. You can take the road to connect back to where you started. This trail is seasonally closed 12/16 - 4/14 to motorized use.

Access Description

This trail system in the Stanislaus National Forest can be accessed from either the Deer Creek Staging Area on the west side of the trail system, or from Crandall Campground on the east side of the trail system. The Deer Creek Staging Area is a primitive dirt lot with space for several vehicles and small trailers, accessed via Italian Bar Road. The Crandall OHV Parking and Camping Area has several primitive camp spots with picnic tables. All of the trails are open from April 15 to December 15, but it gets really hot and dry in the summer here, so the best times to visit are spring and fall.
