Trail Overview
The trail starts as a gravel road but turns to a dirt 2-track after about half a mile. It winds through the forest, showcasing the beauty of the Ouachita National Forest. You will have several mud holes to cross that can be easily navigated by any high-clearance 4x4. As you pass the tip of a cove, there is a rock wall that can be seen from the trail. There are some small steps and ruts to navigate. The trail ends at a campsite near the lake with a picnic table. Be on the lookout for wildlife, including venomous snakes, as we saw a nearly 4-foot copperhead along the trail. Other wildlife includes deer, turkey, rabbits, and squirrels.
