Trail Overview
This is a great 4x4 road with lots of areas to pull off and hike down to Big Cove Creek which parallels this road. In the beginning, there is a cattle guard and a spot to air down right before that guard. It's mainly an old logging road so there is plentiful firewood all along this route. There are lots of pull-out camping areas however there are no restrooms along this route. They're lots of water crossings, creeks, and scenic viewpoints. There is no cell service along this road. With over 60 species of trees growing in this forest including Magnolia, the fall is the most beautiful time of year to visit. The creeks run pretty high during the fall and winter months. Watch out for cotton mouth and rattlesnakes along with scorpions (during the summer months). Deer have been seen all along these roads as well. Hunters with dogs are also seen on a regular basis, also hunting dogs without their owners around as well.
Difficulty
Gravel road with a mix of bigger boulders, water crossings and steep climbs.
