Trail Overview
Western, East Willow Springs Road begins as a well-graded, wide trail offering ample space for oncoming traffic. As you head east from the private ranch property, you'll appreciate the smooth drive, but this trail narrows significantly as it transitions towards the wash. Alongside the route, sharp desert plants become more prevalent, urging you to stay vigilant for deeper mud holes that may form when cattle drink during rainy periods. As you continue down the trail, it gradually narrows further and features steeper off-camber sections, particularly where portions of the trail have developed drainage from wet conditions. Keep an eye out for the jumping cactus and ironwood plants that line the trail's edges, as they could easily snag on your tires and add to your vehicle's character with some unique Arizona pinstripes. The combination of small water runoff crossings and rugged terrain makes this segment slow-going and bumpy, but it adds to the adventure! A solitary remote campsite is nestled along the way, perfect for two vehicles--ideal for a quiet hunting retreat or a peaceful camping getaway. As you approach the final section of the trail, the excitement ramps up as it runs alongside the fence line, where things get a bit more rugged. This area features significant washouts and provides a fantastic opportunity to test your vehicle's articulation against short, loose rock hill climbs. Important Note: Throughout most of the trail, you can expect around 3-4 bars of LTE service, which will help keep you connected. However, it's always best to download your offline maps before heading out. As with any desert adventure, come prepared with plenty of water and supplies to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Don't forget this trail is in AZ state land trust land, so be sure to purchase and print your yearly permit before you go.
