Trail Overview
West Forest Service Road 229 is the western stretch of Forest Road 229. The majority of this trail is very rutted and rocky and has the potential for deep mud holes in some areas. The western portion of this trail is pretty rutted in spots. As you travel from West and East, the trail will cross a dry wash area full of river rocks. After this wash, you will start to climb a short and steep hill. The trail will turn sharply to the South and continue uphill. In this section of the trail are the main obstacles, which is a short and steep rock climb. You must navigate over rock outcroppings at a decent uphill grade. After these short obstacles, and trail starts to turn to the East. The trail's surface remains quite rocky and has several areas that show evidence of deep mud holes that may be present after a good rain. The trail ends as Forest Road 229 becomes more maintained and less rocky.
