Trail Overview

AZ State Trust permit required. This is a scenic trail that circles around the Sawtooth Mountains. The trail is on BLM and AZ State Trust and skirts private land. You will experience forests of cholla and saguaro and large pear cactus, which are extremely beautiful in their natural setting. After rains, the greenwash will have running water, so use good judgment before crossing. This is an easy trail for an afternoon ride.

Trail was in good condition. There is a swinging gate at the NE entrance followed by a barb wire gate about a half mile in. Both gates can be opened easily. Be sure to close gates behind you as there are cattle in the area. Widowmaker peak is very steep and should not be attempted by beginners, but the view is excellent from the top.

Lots of cacti and some cattle. Fun trip through some interesting landscape. Have to be careful with the Ricky areas throwing off compass's.
