Trail Overview
Possum is an interesting trail, both in its terrain and in its nearly non-existent route.. Theoretically an access trail for the Possum Tank, some of this trail is overgrown and ready to be reclaimed by nature. It's a single lane, with the surface going from rock and gravel to larger rocks and a bit of sand in the small wash that you'll end up in. There are erosion and runoff scars along this trail, but no major obstacles. There is also no cell service on this trail, so if you're exploring this area, offline maps are recommended. This area is also Arizona State Trust Land and requires a permit. The yearly permit can be purchased and printed online. The permit allows certain recreational activities, including camping, bicycling, bird watching, GPS-based recreational activities (geocaching), hiking, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle (OHV) usage, photography, picnicking, and sightseeing.
