Trail Overview
The P1664 trail turned out to be a gentle hidden gem in a full day of dirt mapping. This trail has no obstacles on it, and surprisingly little erosion and water damage as well. This is a mellow trail that ebbs and flows with its width but generally stays around one to 1.5 lanes wide. There are plenty of places between the desert foliage to pass and/or turn around. If you must exit the trail, please remember to TREAD LIGHTLY as this environment is fragile and is prone to lasting damage. There is little to no cell service in this area, so if you're visiting, it's best to have offline maps downloaded and available. Parts of this trail pass many different types of cacti, including Barrel Cactus, Ocotillo, and the infamous Cholla, or "Jumping Cactus". You'll also pass many old Joshua Trees. These trees are fragile and are ruggedly beautiful, and rare, only growing in certain areas of the southwest.
