Trail Overview

This is an almost 2-mile-long wash trail within the desert flats off of Freeman Road, north of Oracle Junction, Arizona. It stays in the wash for the entire route, which is made of white sand, packed down from a lot of tracks, but deeper in some spots and corners. Watch for uneven ground and ruts in the wash, and small washouts, but mostly it is very easy. There are lots of tracks to follow, but there are a few unmarked splits; most of the wash splits end up in the same place anyway. There aren't many rocks in the wash, but watch out for a couple of embedded boulders in the middle of the trail. The wash is lined with some scenic rock walls and bluffs at times, and lined with big mesquite trees and palo verde. A couple of times, it goes underneath low-hanging branches, which makes the overhead clearance really low. It's mostly very wide, but has a few narrower sections through the bushes. The trail has minimal elevation gain, but you get views of the peaks to the north. This trail is on Arizona State Trust Land, which requires a permit for recreation from the Arizona State Land Department.
