Blue Peak Canyon

Trail Overview

This trail begins just past the gate and drops into a wash before climbing steadily uphill. As you work deeper into the route, the terrain turns into a bumpy boulder rock garden with several ledges that require careful tire placement. You are ascending the entire time, so be sure to glance back for incredible views of Roosevelt Lake and the surrounding mountains. There are multiple extreme off-camber sections and repeated descents into washes, including one particularly steep and difficult off-camber drop that demands full attention. Further in, the trail narrows into a shelf road as it winds up the side of a cliff. It is clear this route has not been maintained for many years, and there is one very challenging off-camber section that tilts toward the cliff's edge, where a large washout is filled with rocks that have fallen from above. At the top, you are rewarded with an expansive grassy plateau and stunning views overlooking Blue Peak Canyon beyond the hill. The panorama from the summit alone makes the climb unforgettable.

Sustained rock gardens, multiple steep off-camber drops into washes, and a narrow, unmaintained shelf road with an extreme off-camber tilt make this route best suited for experienced drivers in SxS, ATV, or dirt bikes who are comfortable with significant exposure, technical ledges, and serious off-camber angles.
