Trail Overview
Starting from Highway 1, this trail begins on a well-maintained road with some washboard sections. After passing the entrance to a corporate farm, the road descends into a small canyon before the adventure really kicks in. About a mile in, you'll climb from sea level to over 1,300 feet in a short distance. While there are no significant off-camber or rutted sections, the trail does feature some shelf roads with high exposure. After passing the yellow memorial at the peak, you'll descend quickly back to sea level into a canyon teeming with wildlife--thousands of quail and tracks of small animals, including cats. The trail ends at the arroyo, but if you're feeling adventurous, you can continue exploring as the road climbs up the other side of the canyon.

Difficulty
There are some steep sections that could require you to engage 4WD. Even with the length of the trail, steepness of the climbs and descents, and altitude gain and loss the route is in pretty good overall condition. Be careful as there are many sections with exposure and this could obviously be a much higher rating in wet conditions due to the steepness of the climbs out of the canyons.
